Access Government Incentives

SPLLC provides strategic and technical help to companies that seek access to government support for the development of their workforces, for the expansion or relocation of their facilities, or for other purposes. The scope of these services may range from assessments of available incentives in targeted markets, to comprehensive research, design, and implementation of public/private partnerships across the U.S. or internationally. These services are based on SPLLC's broad understanding of the programs available from the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education, Housing, Judicial, Commerce, and Health and Human Services, and on similarly detailed knowledge of the incentives available internationally from organizations such as the World Bank and the regional development banks. SPLLC also maintains close links with state departments of education, training, and economic development that offer hiring assistance, training grants, relocation assistance, and tax credits to companies operating or expanding within their borders. SPLLC provides a complete set of services that enables clients to access government with a minimum investment of internal staff resources. These services include identification of opportunities, design of strategies, writing grants, negotiations with agencies, contract or grant monitoring, and follow-up support.

Provide Management and Consulting Services for Non-Profits

SPLLC provides support to non-profit organizations that require organizational, management, or technical services. This assistance ranges from comprehensive management of headquarters and field operations to discrete projects, such as strengthening a board of directors, forming a national advisory board, raising an organization's visibility, or assisting with fundraising programs. In addition, many assignments with non-profits involve help in obtaining government grants or contracts. Often non-profit clients may become part of public/private partnerships involved in workforce development, or in assistance to disadvantaged youth, the disabled, older workers, or other groups on which government programs are focused.

Obtain State Training Grants and Tax Incentives

Most states offer grants to support worker training, and/or tax incentives to encourage new hiring or job retention. These programs vary widely from state to state, in terms of their focus, the types of workers and companies that are eligible for state support, the application process, and the amount of funds available. SPLLC maintains a detailed data base of these programs, and actively engages with state agency officials to keep up-to-date on the incentives that are available to our clients. Each year SPLLC assists its clients in the preparation and submission of applications for assistance. Our very successful state practice enables SPLLC clients to take advantage of changes in incentive programs as they occur, including new state initiatives, legislative or policy revisions, funding cycles, and other program adjustments.

Utilize the Public Workforce System

Under the Workforce Investment Act, the U.S. spends $12 billion annually to support a nationwide network of facilities to provide education, training, job search assistance, and unemployment insurance to American workers. This system links the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education and Health and Human Services, state departments of labor, employment and economic development as well as, training, colleges, non-profit organizations, and corporations to provide comprehensive labor market adjustment assistance to workers from all backgrounds. SPLLC provides assistance to corporations that want to make better use of this system to support their hiring, layoffs, training or other human resource needs.
